THE BEST JEWELRY CARE TIPS ON HOW TO CLEAN JEWELRY
Jewelry Care Instructions
Every The United Jewelry piece comes with a complimentary polishing cloth & care instructions. Whilst basic cleaning can be done at home, we recommend having your Jewelry professionally cleaned and inspected (check your stone settings regularly) every 6 months or depending on the need.
We have no control over how the Jewelry is being worn. Scratches and knocks are part of normal signs of everyday wear.
Wearing Your Jewelry
The United Jewelry is designed to last for many years to come but all precious jewellery will naturally tarnish and look dull if proper care have not been taken. Always protect your Jewelry from knocks, scratches, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimize these effects.
General Care Instructions
Remove Jewelry when showering or bathing. This is particularly important when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water
Avoid wearing Jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise
Never expose Jewelry to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions
Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray on the gemstones or pearls as it jeopardizes the integrity of the material
Remove Jewelry when applying make-up, creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture or gemstone setting. Any residue dulls the shine of your ring
Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity
If you notice any gemstones moving, please have that repaired immediately to avoid any further damage or loss of stones
General Jewelry Cleaning
Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep silver, yellow and rose gold Jewelry looking shiny and lustrous. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.
We highly recommend Town Talk Polish products such as – Exquisite Jewel Sparkle for gold Jewelry. There is also a kit available that contains Jewel Sparkle tissues and gold polishing cloths. Shop all home cleaning products here.

You can purchase these or similar home cleaning products from any Jewelry shop or online.
Gemstones are all on a different hardness scale. Depending on the gemstone, some can be more sensitive to scratches. Diamond is the strongest followed by sapphire, ruby. If a minor scratch does occur, it can be polished out in most cases. The gemstones hardnesses are classified based on Moh’s Scale. Read more about understanging the durability of gemstones.
Since many gemstones are quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times unless using special products that are safe. We advise cleaning your precious stones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching. Make sure to have a jeweller inspect your gemstone settings every 6 months to avoid any potential loss of gemstones. The settings can be delicate and move when knocked or caught in something.
